LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — A Nevada Army National Guard helicopter crew of five soldiers is headed to Oregon to help fight wildfires.

The five-soldier crew of a UH-72A Lakota helicopter departed the North Las Vegas Airport on Sunday morning on a mission to support firefighting efforts.

The evacuation chopper will fly to Klamath Falls, Ore., today and then support medical response missions throughout Oregon as needed. The crew will remain in Oregon through Oct. 2.

The Nevada Army and Air Guard have also provided aviation assets in recent weeks to the hurricane response situations in Texas and Florida as well as other firefighting efforts in both Nevada and California. The Nevada Army

Guard has six Lakota airframes in its aviation fleet, two of which are equipped with medical evacuation features.
