Workers arriving at City Hall in Shawnee, Kansas, were in for an unfortunate surprise early Friday morning.
They found a window and glass door both damaged from apparent gunfire.
Police said officers were first called to a home in the 13400 block of Johnson Drive around 1 a.m. Friday to investigate reports that someone heard gunshots in the area. Police found shell casings in a driveway and apparent bullet holes in a house.
No injuries were reported.
Then, when city personnel arrived to work at City Hall at 11110 Johnson Drive around 8 a.m., they found a window damaged and a glass entry door shattered, also from apparent gunshots.
Police said no one was inside City Hall overnight when gunshots were fired.
In a release, Shawnee police said there is no known connection between the two locations that were damaged overnight, and a motive remains unknown.
Police are investigating the incidents at both locations with help from the Johnson County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
