"I think it's important to give back to the community in any way you can," stated Tito Ortiz, "that's something I've always believed in."

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, November 23, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The famous Laugh Factory venue in Hollywood held its 39th annual free Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, November 22nd. The event, which is held to “welcome those away from home, those who might be lonely, homeless, or simply in need of a warm meal, a hug or a laugh,” welcomed several top comedians including Tim Allen, Dane Cook, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Nealon, and Shawn Wayans, who helped serve guests turkey dinners and other delicious helpings. The comics then performed live shows following each meal served throughout the celebration. Other non-comic celebrity guests also attended the event, and one of these was former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz, who is currently preparing for his upcoming fight with Chuck Lidell on November 24th, 2018. The fighter welcomed guests at the door and served food to those who attended.

"I think it's important to give back to the community in any way you can," stated Tito Ortiz, "that's something I've always believed in. Never stop being grateful for what you have and where you came from."

The fighter has been training the last 12 weeks, working 3 times a day, 6 days a week. However, he was still able to find time to help those in need on Thursday night’s feast. His fight on November 24th is expected to be a sellout when walk-ups are included. A strong pay-per-view showing on Fite TV is also anticipated, meaning the event will overall be very profitable.

"It's events like these that make me especially grateful to live here in California," continued Ortiz. "It's great to see how people can bounce back after these fires and spread joy and cheer during the holidays."

Jamie Masada, the owner of the Laugh Factory, explains that, “spending the holidays alone is no laughing matter." He encourages people to spread word of the event in preparation for next year. "Perhaps someone is bashful or there might be someone who needs a ride," says Masada, "particularly during these difficult times, you might know of someone who has suffered, and whose children could use a warm holiday meal."

Paul Rodriguez, a comedian and volunteer at the event, stated, “It just feels good to give back to the people. California has had it particularly rough recently. Even the celebrities helping out, they’ve suffered, but they’re here, and they’re ready to serve.”

In 2017, 2,500 people were served and the expected turn-out was even larger this year. The line getting into the building wrapped around the block, and although official numbers have yet to be revealed, it’s clear that the event was a success.

"A lot of people came tonight," concludes Ortiz, "It's a memory that I'll never forget, and I expect it'll be the same for everyone else here as well."
