84th Civil Support Team conducts exercise in Sweetwater County

The Wyoming National Guard 84th Civil Support Team will conduct joint hazardous material and law enforcement exercises with the local responders from Rock Springs, Wyoming, on April 9 and 11, 2024.

The 84 CST will partner with the Sweetwater County Office of Emergency Management to exercise responding to incidents with hazardous materials that may overwhelm local resources, testing, and improving local, state, and federal response.

The exercise is in Rocksprings and the surrounding areas, with significant activities intentionally planned away from heavily populated areas in the interest of safety. Still, some aspects may be noticed within the city.

Residents are advised that responder vehicle movement and operational response actions may pose a danger to unsuspecting observers. Therefore, they are asked to refrain from entering areas marked “Exercise in Progress” or “Training” in the interest of uninterrupted training activity and for their own personal safety.

The planners coordinated the exercise with the Sweetwater County Office of Emergency Management and local first responders.

Please contact Emily Covey, the Sweetwater County Emergency Manager, at 307-922-5370 or coveye@sweetwatercountywy.gov with any questions regarding exercise activities
